South Africa 3-128 (Graeme Smith 67*, Alviro Petersen 26, Saeed Ajmal 2-42) leads Pakistan 99 (Zulfiqar Babar 25*, Shan Masood 21, Imran Tahir 5-32, Dale Steyn 3-38) by 29 runs

The native of Pakistan and the leg break bowler of South Africa, Imran Tahir, led his team with a superb bowling as the home batsmen surrendered against him.

Pakistan was bowled out for 99 mere runs in their first innings after 36.4 overs and the Proteas responded strongly by smashing 3-128 in 49 overs.

The second and final Test commenced on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The toss was won by the Pakistani skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq, and they had an awful beginning by losing Khurram Manzoor for a duck. Azhar Ali along with Shan Masood took the score to 38 before the first was gone for 19. Imran Tahir started the day by removing Shan Masood for 21 followed by the important wickets of Misbah-ul-Haq and Adnan Akmal while Younis Khan was sent back to the pavilion by Morne Morkel.

The hosts were struggling at 6-60 at lunch and continued with their pathetic batting after the break. The tail ender, Zulfiqar Babar, secured his end for 25 as the innings of the entire team was folded back for 99 in 36.4 overs.

Imran Tahir was the star performer with his career’s best figures of 5-32, Dale Steyn held two whereas Morne Morkel chipped in with one wicket.

The captain of South Africa, Greame Smith, and Alviro Petersen provided a reasonable start by scoring 37 as the latter was declared leg before wicket off Zulfiqar Babar for 26. Dean Elgar kept on creeping with odd boundaries and enhanced the score to 91 when the first became the victim of Saeed Ajmal for 23. Graeme Smith attained his 38th Test fifty and remained unbeaten for 67 whereas Jacques Kallis was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal for just seven runs as the tourists thrashed 128 for the loss of three wickets.

South Africa is at the driving seat and they already have gained a substantial lead of 29 runs with a lot of batting still to come.
