The most experienced fast bowler of India, Zaheer Khan was confident that the team India will bounce back in the third Test which will take place in Perth.
India has been let down in the previous Two Tests at Melbourne and Sydney by the ecstatic Australians. The hosts won the first Test at Melbourne by 122 runs and the victory was enhanced to an innings and 68 runs in the second Test at Sydney.
Sachin Tendulkar is fighting hard for his 100th hundred in international cricket but had found it difficult to achieve the milestone. He smashed his last ton by dispatching 111 runs against South Africa in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, in Nagpur on March 12, 2011. The little master has reached in the nineties against England at The Oval in August, 2011, by scoring 91 runs and was six runs away from the landmark against West Indies at Mumbai in November, 2011.
The entire Indian team anticipates valuable contribution from the bat of Tendulkar but they are not worried about his 100th century. Zaheer was convinced that the 38-year-old master blaster will achieve the distinctive feat pretty soon keeping in view his present form. He said, “We want Sachin to score big for India but we are not stressed about his 100th ton. But the way he is playing, his feet movement, the way he is playing his shots, it looks his 100th hundred is not far away.”
India has won the last encounter against the Aussies at Perth by 72 runs on January 19, 2008, when they visited Australia previously. Ishant Sharma was a proud member of that team and assisted them in the victory by taking three wickets in the match. The young fast bowler is working hard on the current tour as well and has picked up three wickets in two matches but his best is yet to come as anticipated by Zaheer who commented as, “He’s been bowling well and it’s just a matter of time that he starts picking up wickets. He has played in Perth before and this is the place that got him in reckoning.”
Zaheer has appeared in 81 Tests, has grasped 283 wickets at an average of 31.54 runs per wicket, the best of 7 for 87 in an innings and 10 for 149 in a match.
The 33-year-old is the highest wicket taker for India in the on-going series by clinching 10 wickets averaging 25.20, the best of 4 for 77 in an innings and 7 for 130 in a match. He was composed for a better show in the forthcoming Test at Perth and was ready for making an impact in the match by his individual performance.
The team India has forgotten the previous two encounters, they are focussing on the future games and Zaheer was optimistic about positive results in the next match. He further strengthened his views by saying, “We are focused and quietly confident. It’s not the first time we are in the tough situation. We are confident about doing well.”
The third Test of the series will start on January 13, 2011, at Western Australia Cricket Association Ground, Perth, and the sleeping Indian tigers can turn the tables if they wake up timely.
