Australia rattled India by an enormous margin of 87 runs in the Commonwealth Bank Series and has nearly thrown them out of the tournament by their sheer team work.

Australia scored a chase able target of 252 runs with one wicket in hand and the World Champions India were bowled out for a shaky total of 165 in 39.3 overs.

The hard hitting opener, David Warner was declared ‘Player of the match’ for his brilliant 68 runs.

The 10th match of the tri-series was played at Sydney Cricket Ground, on February 26, 2012, which proved to be a one side encounter.

Earlier, the stand in Aussies Captain, Shane Watson, won the toss and sent his troops in to bat first. He opened the innings with the attacking David Warner but lapse of four months proved too good for him as the skipper was gone for just one run.

The promising youngster Peter Forrest was next to depart for seven and the torture for the home side continued when their experienced middle order batsman, Micheal Hussey was run out for 10 runs. The Kangaroos were reeling at 57 for three wickets as Warner and David Hussey put their heads down and shared 50 runs partnership for the fourth wicket.

Warner was caught smartly by Suresh Raina off Ravindra Jadeja for 68 off 66 balls with seven fours. David and Matthew Wade consolidated the innings by putting runs on board while securing their wickets. The duo added 94 runs and the next wicket was gone at 201 runs when Wade was caught behind by MS Dhoni off Umesh Yadav for 56 and Hussey followed him 11 runs later at his personal score of 54.

Daniel Christian scored 24 in the late order as Australia managed 252 runs for the loss of nine wickets at the end of the 50th over.

Virender Sehwag was the highest wicket taker with three, Praveen Kumar and Yadav shared two wickets each as Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket.

The Blue Shirts had a dreadful beginning as their prominent batsman, Virender Sehwag was excellently caught and bowled by Ben Hilfenhaus for just five runs. The agony for Sachin Tendulkar continued when Brett Lee came in his way while attempting a run as the little master fell short of his crease and unluckily run out for 14.

Gautam Gambhir and ever reliable Virat Kohli tried to stop the rival invasion and enhanced the total to 79 runs before the later was caught at mid wicket by Christian on the last ball of the first over from Watson for 21. Gambhir became the second victim of Watson three runs later for 23 as the wickets started crumbling and the Indian batting went back to its shells.

The body language of the Indian batsmen looked timid while Ravichandran Aashwin and Irfan Pathan resisted a bit with 26 and 22 respectively as the whole team was bowled out for mere 165 with 10.3 overs to spare.

Hilfenhaus, Watson and Xavier Doherty were the impressive bowlers with two wickets each as Brett Lee, Clint McKay and Daniel Christian supported them well while claiming one wicket each.

Australia won the match meticulously by a huge margin of 87 runs and has qualified for the finals with 19 points off 7 matches, Sri Lanka follows with 15 from 6 matches and India is at the bottom while holding 10 points from 7 encounters.
