The Indian batting line up is being considered as one of the best among the present day cricket and have plenty of runs against their names but ever since last summer their performance against the fast bowlers on the green top wickets has taken a slide. They have lost quite a few Tests abroad after their success in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

We will highlight their batting performance abroad which starting from the summer of 2011, when they toured West Indies.

The top two all-time highest run getters in Test Cricket belong to India and they are still part of their squad which is currently engaged in the Test series against Australia. Sachin Tendulkar is at the peak by hammering 15409 runs at an excellent average of 56.03, the best of unbeaten 248 runs with 51 centuries and 65 fifties. Rahul Dravid is his successor by smashing 13206 runs at a high average of 52.82, the best of 270 runs with 36 hundreds and 63 fifties.

India vs. West Indies (India won 1-0)

India visited West Indies and played three Tests series in June – July, 2011, which they won by 1-0. They clinched the first Test at Kingston, by 63 runs on June 23, 2011, while the remaining two Tests at Bridgetown and Roseau ended in a draw.

West Indies fast bowler’s performance

The pace trio of the Carribeans was led by Fidel Edwards who grabbed 19 wickets at an exceptional average of 20.00 runs per wicket with the best of 5 for 76 in an innings and 8 for 132 in a match.

Ravi Rampaul earned 10 wickets at a reasonable average of 24.90, the best of 3 for 38 in an innings and 4 for 108 in a match.

Darren Sammy ended up with seven wickets averaging 38.28, the best of 4 for 52 in an innings and 4 for 94 in a match.
The three fast bowlers accumulated 36 wickets out of 49 wickets.

India vs. England (England won 4-0)

The Indian team took their next assignment when they embarked on away tour of England and played four Tests in July – August, 2011. It was one of the worst displays by their batting ever and they surrendered against the lethal fast bowling of England who destroyed them by winning all four Tests at Lord’s, Nottingham, Birmingham and The Oval.

Stuart Broad broke the back of the Indian batting by grasping 25 wickets at a superb average of 13.84 runs per wicket, the best of 6 for 46 in an innings and 8 for 76 in a match.

James Anderson was unplayable and clinched 21 wickets at a decent average of 25.71, the best of 5 for 65 in an innings and 7 for 152 in a match.

Tim Bresnan picked 16 wickets at an awesome average of 16.31with the best of 5 for 48 in an innings and 7 for 96 in a match.

Chris Tremlett appeared in just one match and held four wickets averaging 31.00, the best of 3 for 80 in an innings and 4 for 124 in a match.

The pace attack of England secured 66 wickets out of 79 which shows their dominance in the game.

India vs. Australia (Australia won 2-0, with two Tests remaining)

The current series is also being dominated by the pace trio of Australia who enabled home side in winning the Tests at Melbourne and Sydney in December – January, 2011-12.

Australian fast bowler’s performance

Ben Hilfenhaus, ran through the Indian batting line up by accumulating 15 wickets at a marvellous average of 18.06 runs with the best of 5 for 75 runs per wicket in an innings and 8 for 157 in a match.

Peter Siddle has shown promise by adding 11 wickets to his credit at a prime average of 22.54, the best of 3 for 42 in an innings and 6 for 105 in a match.

The young pace sensation for Australia, James Pttinson has secured 11 wickets at fabulous average of 23.36, the best of 4 for 43 in an innings and 6 for 108 in a match.

The Australian seamers have taken 37 out of 40 wickets which fell in the two matches.

The above analysis reflect that the Indian batsmen have shown their concern while facing the express bowling abroad, they should put their heads together before they loss another match at Perth which starts on January 13, 2011, and give up the series.
