Bangladesh 391 and 9-291 declared (Mushfiqur Rahim 93, Nasir Hossain 67*, Shingi Masakadza 4-58) beat Zimbabwe 282 and 257 (Hamilton Masakadza 111, Vusi Sibanda 32, Ziaur Rahman 4-63) by 143 runs.
The transformed Bangladesh side fought back in the second Test and beat the hosts Zimbabwe all ends up besides an entertaining ton from Hamilton Masakadza.
Bangladesh thrashed 391 in the first innings and declared their second at 9-291. Zimbabwe scored 282 in their first innings and was bowled out for 257 in the second.
Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh) was announced ‘Player of the match’ for scoring two fifties and leading his side from the front.
Robiul Islam (Bangladesh) was declared ‘Player of the series’ for his superb bowling in two matches. He grasped 15 wickets at an awesome average of 19.53 runs per wicket, the best of 6-71 in an innings and 9-155 in a match.
The second and final Test concluded on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Harare Sports Club.
Earlier, the hosts went into the last day at 4-138 after 43.4 overs, Hamilton Masakadza was at his crease with 46 and Shingi Masakadza was at the other end for 7. The visitors gave a new life to Hamilton Masakadza at 46 when he was dropped on the third ball of the 45th over. Shingi Masakadza got the first four of the day two overs later as Hamilton Masakadza scored his fifty in the 48th over. The batsmen opted to defend, they found it hard to push the score and quite a few overs ended as a maiden. They crawled to 164 in 61.5 overs when Shingi Masakadza was declared leg before wicket off Mohammad Ashraful for 24.
Elton Chigumbura scored just two runs and was replaced by Richmond Mutumbami. Hamilton Masakadza took over and scored most of the runs whereas Mumtumbami kept on securing his end. The Bengal Tigers got the seventh breakthrough at 200 as Mutumbami was clean bowled by Ziaur Rahman for 12. Masakadza hit two back to back fours in the 82nd over as the wickets kept on crumbling from the other end.
The ninth wicket was lost at 219 when the last batsman, Kyle Jarvis, joined in with Masakadza who kept on fighting at his end. Hamilton Masakadza dispatched 1 six and 1 four in the following overs and powered his third Test century with another six in the 87th over. He remained unbeaten for 111 off 252 deliveries with 4 towering sixes and 11 fours as the second innings of Zimbabwe was rolled back on 257 in 95.3 overs.
Ziaur Rahman was the most deadly bowler and grabbed four wickets, Shakib Al Hasan held three whereas Robiul Islam, Sohag Gazi and Mohammad Ashraful shared one wicket each.
Bangladesh won the final Test with a big margin of 143 runs and the two match series was levelled at 1-1.
