Bangladesh 7-168 (Tamim Iqbal 43, Shakib Al Hasan 40, Prosper Utseya 2-15) beat Zimbabwe 9-134 (Vusi Sibanda 32, Sikandar Raza 32, Shakib Al Hasan 4-22) by 34 runs.

A solid batting performance followed by a lethal bowling spell by the all rounder Shakib Al Hasan led Bangladesh to an easy win vs. Zimbabwe in the 2nd  T20.

Bangladesh hammered 7-168 in the measured 20 overs and Zimbabwe scored 134 for the loss of 9 wickets in the required quota of overs.

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh) was announced ‘Player of the match’ and ‘Player of the series’ for his outstanding all round performance in two games.

The second and final Twenty20 of the series was played on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.

Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss for the tourists and did not hesitate to bat first. The decision backfired early when they lost the first wicket for just four runs as Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal opted to attack. The duo hit 7 fours until the end of the fourth over and added another three boundaries in the next one. Shakib Al Hasan was dropped at 32 by Visu Sibanda off Shingi Masakadza on the third ball of the 8th over as Tamim Iqbal gathered another six and one four. The second wicket fell at 86 when Shakib Al Hasan was gone for 40 off just 28 balls with 1 six and 6 fours.

Mushfiqur Rahim walked in next as Tamim Iqbal continued with his steamy knock at the other end. The hundred of the innings was scored in the 11th over as Tamim Iqbal was caught by Shingi Masakadza off Prosper Utseya for 43 from 30 with 1 six and 6 fours. Mushfiqur Rahim became the next victim at 111 in 12.3 overs as Nasir Hossain took charge and played a brisk innings of 27 off 23 deliveries with 3 fours. The Bengal Tigers piled up 168 runs with three wickets left at the end of the 20th over.

Prosper Utseya was the chief wicket taker with two whereas Brian Vitori, Tinashe Panyangara, Sean Williams and Hamilton Masakadza shared one wicket each.

Zimbabwe went under pressure in the second over as Hamilton Masakadza was clean bowled by Abdur Razzak for two runs. The captain of Zimbabwe, Brendon Taylor joined in with Vusi Sibanda and dispatched 1 six and 6 fours and the score reached 45 in 4.5 overs. Taylor was caught by Nasir Hossain off Shakib Al Hasan for 15 and was replaced by Sean Williams. Vusi Sibanda left the scene after eight runs for 32 off 19 with 1 six and 3 fours as Sikandar Raza associated with Williams.

The latter was run out for 16 as the total touched 78 in 10.5 overs and Malcolm Waller took guards in the center. They added 13 runs in the 12th over with 1 six and 1 four as Waller became the fifth victim for 10. Sikandar Raza was the sixth batsman who went back to the dressing room for 32 off 30 balls with 2 lofty sixes as the following batsmen were unable to enter the double figures. The hosts were restricted to 134 runs with one wicket left when the entire 20 overs were played off.

Shakib Al Hasan was the star performer with four wickets whereas Abdur Razzak and Shafiul Islam claimed two wickets each.

Bangladesh won the important encounter with a hefty margin of 34 runs and levelled the series at 1-1.
