Chennai Super Kings – Road to the 2010, IPL Championship

Chennai Super Kings triumphed in the 2010, IPL under the leadership of MS Dhoni and conquered the event which was inaugurated by the BCCI, for the first time.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India initiated the Twenty20 Championship in 2008 and that has become the most popular tournament. Eight teams contested in the IPL 3, which was played on a double round-robin basis and finally ended in the knock out stages. The event started on March 12, 60 matches were played and the final was held on April 25, 2010.

We will highlight all matches played by Chennai Super Kings until they emerged champions by grabbing the final.

1st match vs. Deccan Chargers

The match was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on March 14, 2010.

Scores

Deccan Chargers – 190 for 4 wickets, Andrew Symonds 50, Herschelle Gibbs 45, Ravichandran Ashwin 1-26.

Chennai Super Kings – 159 for 9 wickets, Albie Morkal 42*, MS Dhoni 42, Chaminda Vaas 3-21.

Result – Deccan Chargers won the match by 31 runs.

2nd Match vs. Kolkata Knight Riders

The match took place on March 16, 2010 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

The match was held at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi on March 19, 2010.

4th match vs. Kings XI Punjab

The match was held at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on March 21, 2010.

5th match vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore

The match was played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on March 23, 2010.

Result – Chennai Super Kings won the semi final by 38 runs and qualified for the final.

 Final vs. Mumbai Indians

The final took place at Dr D Y Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on April 25, 2010.

Player of the matchSuresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings)

Result- Chennai Super Kings won the final by 22 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar (Mumbai Indians) was declared ‘Player of the series’ for his excellent batting performance in the tournament. He was the top scorer in the tournament and smashed 618 runs in 15 innings at an excellent average of 47.53, the best of unbeaten 89 runs with five fifties.
