Amit Mishra terrorised Pune Warriors

Sunrisers Hyderabad 8-119 (Biplab Samantray 37, Amit Mishra 30, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3-18) beat Pune Warriors 108 (Robin Uthappa 22, Angelo Mathews 20, Amit Mishra 4-19) by 11 runs.

Amit Mishra impressed as a matured all rounder and his efforts brought Sunrisers Hyderabad to another big win in the IPL 2013, while beating Pune Warriors.

Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a challenging total of 119 runs for the loss of eight wickets while batting first and the innings of Pune Warriors was rolled back for 108 with six balls to spare.

Amit Mishra (Sunrisers Hyderabad) was declared ‘Player of the match’ for his excellent all round performance in the game.

The 22nd match of the Indian Premier League was played on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune.

Angelo Mathews won the toss for Pune Warriors and invited Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. The home bowlers stood by the decision of their captain and the visitors were in dire trouble by losing their top three batsmen for just 15 runs in the first three overs. Biplab Samantray came to the rescue of his team with a little assistance from the other batsmen and the sixth wicket went down at 44 in 10.4 overs. Amit Mishra joined in with Samantray who hit 1 six and 1 four in the next over and took the score to 75 in 15 overs. Biplab Samantray was caught by Manish Pandey at the bowling of Rahul Sharma at long off for 37 scored from even balls with 1 six and 3 fours.

Amit Mishra was associated by Ashish Reddy and they tried to utilise the full quota of 20 overs with the assistance of a few boundaries. Mishra was run out on the fifth delivery of the last over for 30 off 24 deliveries with 3 fours. Ashish Reddy remained unbeaten for 19 as Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 119 runs with two wickets in hand in 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the super bowler with three wickets, Rahul Sharma held two whereas Ashok Dinda and Mitchell Marsh claimed one wicket each.

Robin Uthappa and Aaron Finch opened the innings for Pune Warriors in an aggressive mode as the first hit 4 boundaries in the initial three overs. Finch added 2 fours in the next over but Thisara Perera got rid of both batsmen on the subsequent deliveries of the fifth over as the score touched 38. Uthappa scored 22 and Finch contributed 16 as Tirumalasetti Suman and Steven Smith got together in the park. They crawled to 57 in 8.3 overs when Suman went back to the pavilion for 12 runs. Angelo Mathews dropped in next but the batsmen were unable to score freely and enhanced the score to 76 as Smith lost his wicket for 17.

Angelo Mathews and Mitchell Marsh had a little partnership of 25 runs before the latter was caught by Ashish Reddy at deep square leg off Dale Steyn for 14. Amit Mishra ripped through the batting of the hosts and got the important wicket of Mathews for 20 on the second ball of the 19th over. Mishra completed his hat-trick on the last three balls of the same over and cornered Pune Wrriors who were bowled out for 108 runs in 19 overs.

Amit Mishra was the star performer while grabbing four wickets, Thisara Perera secured three whereas Ishant Sharma, Dale Steyn and Karan Sharma shared one wicket each.

Sunrisers Hyderabad triumphed in the low scoring match by a margin of 11 runs and got two points.
